“Intersex legislation” that allows the daily mutilations to continue = PINKWASHING of IGM practices

IGM = Torture, NOT 'Discrimination' or 'Gender Identity'Zwischengeschlecht.org on FacebookUnfortunately still bears repeating (5):

While claiming to “work towards” ending IGM “in secret”/“under the surface”, or to propose eternal “first steps” in the form of “equality legislation” – but WITHOUT actually calling for legislation to adequately criminalise or sanction IGM – may be popular with funders and politicians, it WILL NOT ACHIEVE CHANGE, but will UNNECESSARILY PROLONG THE MUTILATIONS instead:

  • Introducing “Intersex Equality Legislation” or “Intersex Civil Status Acts” while IGM practices are allowed to continue unchallenged and unsanctioned = PINKWASHING OF IGM as usual.

  • Introducing “bans” of IGM but WITHOUT SANCTIONS and WITHOUT ACCESS TO REDRESS for survivors, including adequately prolonging the STATUTES OF LIMITATIONS (like e.g. the GIGESC bill in Malta) = not much more.

Worst, this is all nothing new: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” “If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning.” (Frederick Douglass, 1857)
